This quarter we pay tribute to the crazy and endearing Trail Angel, Yeeha Nancy May . Here's what her cohorts have to say:

I just love Yeeha Nancy and her energetic, fun-loving and Christian spirit.   I really got to know her on our October 2006 trip to Utah (Zion, Gooseberry Mesa, Thunder Mountain) and was honored to have joined her and Heather, Maribel, and Jody.  Attached are some pictures of our wonderful time.   Picture 078 is a must on the TA site as Nancy is crossing a ridge on Thunder Mountain, the real TM near Bryce Canyon.

It was unbelievable at about 9,000’.  Nancy is a great rider, loving friend and Mom with God-given talents of medicine (great to have along on a bike trip), humor and sport.  She thinks nothing of peeing in the woods (my kind of gal) and moons on a regular basis as so many of us know.   Her love language is “food” which she treasures dearly, so remember to touch her deeply just think about chocolates, great salads, sauces, desserts, treats, etc.  Best of all Nancy truly thanks God for her many blessings.

Yeeha, I look forward to many more rides with you and treasure those of the past,

Chris

The Yeeha Nancy – a very rare, but social species. Usually heard before rolling out into the open. The distinctive call “YEEEEHA!” can often be heard across many a parking lot, followed by a rather loud BURRRRP sound shortly after meeting fellow species. Very skilled and always a popular bird among the trail angel community, the Yeeha often likes to show off large areas of skin in a demonstrative ritual, often referred to as the “Full Moon”. Very caring by nature with always a positive attitude, this species encourages and motivates others without ever really knowing it.

No scary surprises with this bird – what you see is what you get! The world would be slightly duller without this creature to brighten it.

We love you. Happy TA of the month!!

Nancy Yeehaw,

A great gal who loves the LORD, her husband, her boys, her friends, her mountain bike, her surfboard, life and more. You are a blast to be with, your appreciation of LIFE. When I think of Yeehaw, I remember you shouting out of your window while you were driving, taking a wave or just excited that your having fun. You're a crazy wife to tell her husbands classroom students "It sucks to be you!" and you run off. It's been a memorable time with you Nancy!

Love, love you girl! This month to you WAHINE!

Yeeeeeha!!! It's Nancy May!

What more can we say about the most enthusiastic, energetic and loyal friend in the world! At first ya might think she's a little crazy, but then you figure out that she really IS! After that, you just want more of her! Nancy has helped me through thick and thin, listened to all my stories and been so sensitive to my "seasons".

BUT, I never quite know what she's going to pull out next - a fart machine, strap-on butt, plastic dog poop, panty liner post-it notes... and Lord knows she loves "tamponizing" (a whole new verb that she made up!) I still want a telescoping "are you going to eat that?" fork like hers. Yes, Nancy is full of surprises.

Then there is the professional side of Nancy... as a P.A. in the Emergency Room she has seen it all and knows it all. We relentlessly ask medical questions and I am always amazed at the scope of knowledge she has packed in that brain. She might be standing there with a plastic Halloween butcher knife going through her head, but she can report on the ins and outs of Supraventricular Tachycardia or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy without changing her expression.

Nancy is a competitive woman trying not to be competitive (we have a support group starting). So don't tempt her with who can hold Plank Pose the longest or learn to surf the fastest. She may have to take you down... but then she'll stitch you back up.

I love Nancy with all my heart and my world has become a happier place because of her. I just hope I can do the same for her...

It is my utmost pleasure to take a moment and talk about my friend Nancy (Yeeha) May. Nancy has been with this group since its genesis and has been instrumental to me through the group’s growth and changes.

I do know that my crow’s feet started to develop with all the laughter she has brought into my life and the lives of so many in our group. On the contrary, she has also been a wonderful godly friend to us all.

Nancy is an icon for demonstrating how important it is to leave our maternal responsibilities and workplaces and take time to for ourselves out on the trail. No ride preparation is complete unless we hear Nancy show up with a “YEEHA!” Head’s turn all smiling, as we feel her energy and appreciation for her biking friends and treasured time away.

In searching for photos to share, I wasn’t successful at finding one that didn’t make me laugh and smile at the cherished moments spent with her. Ah, how can I say this? I am often reminded of the full moon when Nancy is around… I’ll leave that to your imagination!

Nancy, thank you for your love of life and humor that has lifted me up so many times and for loving this group so much! We are blessed by your friendship and I look forward to many years out on the trails laughing with you!

I love Nancy for her quick wit, her caring empathetic ways with all our owies and her great advice but most of all for her BURPS. She gave us a lesson on the differences of burps. She has a beautiful smile but don't let that fool you since she is a jokester too. (Thanks for my Mothers Day lunch! ). Actually it was great after I learned it was a joke. Thanks for making me laugh and making our rides so fun, I feel your energy and just soak it up.

We do know Nancy's love language is food just look at Debi's suprise party photo. Our fearless leader wasn't riding with us for a while (working very hard) and Nancy was showing her that we had gone astray, love those earrings. Thanks for all the memories and look forward to many, many more (BBRRAAPPP) yes, that was from the gut.

Love You Yeeha Nancy...

Just to think of you Nancy makes me get a huge smile across my face. You can light up a mountain and light up the beach. Thanks for your positive and radiant nature and for being my friend.

I have the pleasure to have known Nancy longer than the rest of you. It was way back in '92 that we met, when we were both lab rats at a pharmaceutical company. They tried for numerous years to contain her, but she kept getting out of the vivarium (that’s science talk for where you keep the animals). On occasion when she escaped her cage she would wreak havoc in the labs and cause serious cases of explosive laughter. They determined that for everyone’s safety it would be best to let her go free to pursue her dreams elsewhere. So off to PA school she went and was a busy busy girl for a while. Finally with schooling done (where do you think she learned all her stuff?) she got back to life, career, and making babies. Eventually with some prodding (a Von Fry hair wouldn’t work, it took something sharper) she came out and joined us on a TA ride and the rest is historically documented on the TA website. Nancy is one of my very best friends and has been, since way back in those lab days. She has a gift for humor but more importantly she has the gift of encouragement. She is loving, giving and compassionate. She is my sista…

YEEEEEE-HA!!!!!

Oh what fun it is to know Yee-ha Nancy!!! She is a Tall, Natural Beauty, with a beautiful heart as well!! On some occasions, when there is a ride posted and I see that Nancy will be there, I join in as I am sure to get a laugh and a smile on my face as soon as we gather!

It's been a blast to know you, Nancy. I admire your spirit and your "Kid at Heart" attitude! You know you love my boobies too!!! LOL

Thanks for all your medical input and the fun times we have. I look forward to many years of biking and friendship with You!!!

Love,

Yeeha Nancy,

They say you should keep friends around that you want to be like. Well I consider Nancy a friend and a fellow trailangel. She has this huge heart and is so frickin funny, oh can I say that word. She is...she beams with many gifts from God. Her laugh, her personality, her warm heart, her compassion to others, she could heal you with a smile. When you do a road trip, Yeeha Nancy should be a requirement.

If I had to vote for one person to be the poster woman for the Trail Angels... it would be Yeeha Nancy.

PS. Oh did I mention she was funny...we love you Nancy.

"Yo tengo queso en mi embiblico!" Translation.... I have cheese in my belly button. How many ladies do you know that can talk like that? Well, my friend Yeeha can!

Nancy lights up every room she walks into. Her energy and enthusiasm for life are contagious. You can't help but be in a good mood when you are around this crazy girl!

I have laughed so hard on rides with Yeeha that I thought at times my face would fall off. Whenever I am around her I remember what it was like to be a kid. Being silly and creating laughter wherever she goes are what make Yeeha so special. Nancy, you are the best! I am thankful you are my friend.

Love,

Deanna

What can I say, but Nancy is totally infectious; a big kid with a bigger heart and super silly ways.

I don't think this lady has ever been in a bad mood. She's a prankster, the Energizer Funny Bunny and you can bet wherever she goes, laughter will follow, along with sore cheeks.

My only complaint is, I haven't been able to ride enough with her.

I will never forget how kind and loving she was at the hospital when we lost Christy. She is so knowledgeable in the medical field and she was able to provide us with inside information in layman's terms, with heartfelt love and concern.

She is a very busy lady with her work, family & sports, but always takes the time to ask how things are going. I am honored to call her my friend.

Yeeha, I hope to see you on the trails more often.

U R soooooooo loved!

It's always a blast to ride with NancyYeehaw. I remember a time when she took us down a single track from El Moro ridge. It was a bit technical and Nancy fell and hit Cactus, and I fell on top of her and she just kept on laughing.

Nancy, Thank you for cushioning my fall and making every ride with you a fun adventure....

When putting these pages together, I often forget to add my own comments. So I went searching for some fond memories and found these photos. There was a day when I got to attend most of the Friday rides but these days it seems like they are few and far between.

I miss Nancy's antics any time I show up and she's not there! No matter how down you might be when you arrive, you will always have a smile when the ride is over. :-)

I've been wanting to submit something for months and just couldn't seem to come up with the "Just Right Words" to describe a "Just AMAZING Friend".  When I sit down to write about Nancy all of these crazy, fun, side splitting, nose snorting, earth shaking, belly rumbling memories flood my mind.  She has brought me to tears through laughter on more occasions then I could possibly count.  Yet, she has been that strength that only a true friend could be.  When ever I've come to her with medical questions regarding something that either myself or one of my two boys might be going through, such as Shingles, broken jaw, broken bones,  messed up back ....... and the list goes on...... she has always had answers and a caring understanding.  I have called her many times for advice, and without fail, she leaves me feeling so empowered to tackle that journey and always feeling like I have  been touched by an Angel.

So, Nancy......I am taking this time to thank you for being one of my dear friends and such a support in life.  Words can not describe how much I love and appreciate you.  I am awed by your countenance and feel honored to stand in your shadow.

Thank You!!!

Elaine

Big Congrats to YEE-Ha  Ha  Ha  Nancy.  She is always ensuring us mountain bikers are out ha ha ha-ing it on the trails.

To further celebrate her charm, sense of humor, and girly support, I knit her a special Trail Angel award…….YES,   here it is…….the RED thong she has been secretly wanting. Notice how it blends in with the rocky terrain and wild flowers on the trails, notice the very slimming effects,  notice she can wear it and continue to welcome us on our rides with out covering anything up……..she deserves this, our buddy, our smile maker, our biker pal. She has made my rides more fun, more verbose and more crazy…………..YEE HA Nancy,  thanks for sharing the real you and making me smile!!!

Love ya Angel pal,

Carbon Crunch Carrie
