This
quarter we pay tribute to the bold and beautiful Debbie Brown. Here's
what the gang has to say about her:
Debbie! Sensei! Apple M!
Special names that is dear to my heart.
You know that you are the reason why I started to ride my bike& ride like I do. We will always remember the
little ant hills that I couldn't even go over, to the first
huge hill climb that I couldn't even complete. With your
love and patience you taught me through and through to
learn how to MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDE.
We have grown so much together since the beginning of
it all. Watching you open your heart to all the women you
meet, leading the rides, & making sure the Trail Angels
have many rides to remember.
You have stepped up to lead the dream that Christy wanted to create.
That was to have a solid group of strong riders by her side.
When people finish reading about you,
I am sure many will wish they can know you more, or
be your friend therefore, I am so Blessed to have you as one of my best
friends. Even better, live right across the street from YOU!
Meanwhile, Apple M, I look forward to many more rides again.
I just want you to know that Trail Angels would not be the same if it
wasn't for YOU!!! Love you very much! Vivas las tortugas, arriba, arriba!
Not for long, with the VQ, it will be speedy Gonzales y slow poke Rodriguez!

Congratulation Deb Brown,
I couldn't imagine a better nomination for this honor. You ARE the essence of what a true Trail Angel is.
Gosh, I can't even remember when we met. I think it was Chrity who introduced me to you. She mentioned you were Maribel's friend and that you were an awesome rider. That was back in the day when the gang was hanging out. You showed up with your hubby Erik and you were plastered with poison oak all over your body. I couldn't imagine how you could ride without stopping in a cactus patch to scratch the itches off.
Over the past few years we have become great friends and I have come to find there are many great qualities that I admire in you. So if I may please share a few of my own personal admiration with the gals.
First and foremost, Deb exemplifies to those around her what it means to be a faithful follower of Christ Jesus. She loves each and everyone of us she comes in contact with and her enormous heart is apparent to all who know her even after just one encounter. She is a friend who always has an ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on and words for support and encouragement. Her faith is strong and her obedience to live out God's will for her life even stronger. Deb is a constant and consistent role model to myself and those around her. She reminds me to stay positive, deflect the negative, and focus my attention on what is most important. She role models to her christian sisters and fellow riders kindness, encouragement and constant affirmation. She is humble and selfless. What more could a friend ask for.
Well there is a ton more but I don't have all day to write it down. All I can say is if you haven't had the opportunity to get to know this special lady you are missing out BIG time. Deb is one of the strongest ladies I know inside and out. I have watched her endure and overcome personal struggles, great loss, and remain a constant force and inspiration to those around her. She is by far one of the strongest, consistent KICK BUTT riders I know. She climbs like a fricken animal, descends the gnarliest of trails wearing a full face smile and is the first to deflect recognition of her accomplishments onto another instead of taking the spotlight that she so deserves.
Keep On Keeping On Buddy! You know I love you.
Peace Out Ched
PS for those who know me I travel light so no pics to share. It's all just a great memory in my heart. Anyway, Deb would break my camera she's so darn CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Debbie… Thinking of Debbie brings a big smile on my face. Debbie brings positive light, laughter and incredible riding ability (Uphill and Downhill!!) to every ride. She is so gracious with everyone who comes out, making them feel extra special. Camera in hand, she documents every character on the ride, even though we want to see more of her in the pictures. She was a legend (12 Hours of Big Bear) and now she is a friend. Love you Debbie!!

Remembering the first time that I met Debbie Brown…Was getting gasoline at a Shell station with Debbie Nichols as we were heading up to do the 12 hr. race up in Big Bear. I said to myself that you have got to be kidding me a gorgeous blonde like that with such a beautiful smile is doing a 12 hr. SOLO!!! Sure enough that every time she came around she had the most amazing smile and determination to keep pedaling.
She has guided me and so many others to achieve the things that we thought we could never do on our bikes and she never once doubted us even when I doubted myself. Not only is she a very caring compassionate Trail Angel but she has also become a very dear friend of mine as well. Thinking negative does not exist in her world. That is a big NO-NO! She has encouraged all of us and has also touched all of our hearts in some special way. I think you are ONE SPECIAL LADY Debbie Brown (also known as “Sexy Mama”). I love you!!!

I met Debbie Brown Summer of 2000. I was 9 months into mountain biking and I was on a team for 12 hours of Summit, she did the 12 hour race solo.. I couldn't believe it!! I was so impressed with her ability that I had always said "some day" I will ride like that... Yes Debbie it's true, You inspired me to ride like I do today. Fast forward 2007 I have seen Debbie here and there, never knowing she lived only 5 minutes away from me.. we are finally friends instead of acquaintances...
Debbie is always cheerful, always so positive. I love her kind heart and common sense reasoning. Still the impressive mountain biker, we have fun on the trails and off. Debbie is a true friend to all. A beautiful creature with Abs to die for!! She has made me laugh and made me cry.. (in good ways) and she'll give Yee-ha Nancy a run for her money in a burping competition!!! I have really enjoyed getting to know Debbie Brown. I look forward to many fun times on the trails and in life.. Thanks for being such an inspiration and for your loving heart.
Love,
Donna
ps. So, about the VQ!!!! It's all YOUR fault! we are doing it again!!! We will have to train, train, train to make those cut offs!!!

I have had the pleasure of knowing and riding with Debbie Brown for the last 3 years. She always has a big, beautiful smile on her face, even with mud splattered on her face, or climbing BUGS (Big Ugly Grinds). I can't tell if she's happier climbing or going downhill, because when she passes me going downhill all I see is a blur and then she's gone. She amazes me. She is such a strong rider and fearless downhiller, but you would never hear that from her because she is so humble. The thing I love about Debbie is what-you-see-is- what-you-get. No facades with this girl. She is a committed Christian and lives a life honoring to God. She loves her husband, her family and her friends. She is beautiful on the inside and the outside. She has passionate heart and will do anything for her friends, for example, her endurance and commitment riding the Vision Quest in honor our beloved Trail Angel, Christy. Deb is definitely someone I want in my corner, to call 'friend.' I have so much respect for her, as a rider and as a person. Deb is the epitome and 'poster child' of the Trail Angels. I love you, Deb!

BIG hugs and congrats to Debbie for her well earned position as Trail Angel of the quarter. I hadn't ridden much with Debbie, until that famous hot, never ending ride on Bell Ridge last March. That ride allowed us to chat, complain, and share some very sweaty times. (Clarification.. we did NOT whine) I would catch up and find her hiding in the shade on top of one of those never ending hills, I'd pass by cuz I feared if I got off my bike, I would never get back on............then, mid way down the next hill, here she came.......blasting by, and off she went! Such an inspiration to see a gal fly down the cliffs of OC. So I kept her inspiration tight with me. Shortly lived, the following week my inspired flight ended abruptly, oops, ouch. But Debbie was there to help me out in my slump by bringing over a gourmet dinner as my arm hung there in silence mending. WOW-wee, my kitchen went into full blown shock, the stove had never been used like that....nor has it since! We feasted on her wonderful meal and I cherish her kind generosity. I am happy to have a new Angel support buddy. Debbie your heart is bigger than you know.....it makes mine warm and happy, thanks for being you. It is so wonderful to have you way ahead of me on the trails............I will be flying again soon, inspired by you!!!
